Nerd Rods Ackerman Correction Steering Arm Kit

Improves steering feel, turning radius, and rack and pinion load, for 1988-1996 Corvette Suspension and 115" wheelbase hot rods with the stock C4 Corvette Steering Rack.

Gentlemen, thanks for taking time to read our little corner of the internet. Today I’m bringing you all something I’ve kicked around doing for almost a decade now and now that It’s done, I regret not doing this sooner.

Ackerman is one of those hard thinks to describe to people.Its directly related to the wheelbase of the car but its performance gain is subtle and hard to notice unless you’ve suffered the unwieldy steering of the C4 Corvette suspension on these older longer cars. Where most people will have felt bad Ackerman before is on a long wheelbase pickup at low speeds.

We, have fixed this problem with this steering arm upgrade.

After driving our prototype steering arm for a number of miles I can say that it truly improves the steering response and feel of daily driving in our hot rods. Most importantly it really improves the low speed drivability mostly noticed in parking lots, gas stations, driveways, and car shows. Where you will do 90% of your driving anyway.

Notes,

  • This will only work on the 88-96 Corvette Suspension.
  • You will have to cut off your steering arm on your steering knuckle.
  • You will need to modify your inner tie rod as well unless you purchase the stage 2.5 kit.
  • This kit is included on the Stage 3 and Stage 4 rolling turnkey chassis with C4 Suspension, so no need to purchase one if you are buying those chassis.


Stage 1

This is the weld it yourself kit. Included the steering arms, replacement hardware, rod ends, spacers, and sleeves. You will need to weld the arms together as well as modify the inner tie rods to give them the extra length they need.

Stage 2

We weld up and powder coat the steering arm but you will still modify your inner tie rod.

Stage 2.5

Stage 2 plus we include a new modified inner tie rod and bellows. This kit is almost completely blot on with the exception that you will still need to cut your steering knuckle.
